Why get a Sunless Tan?
Now more than ever, many people simply don't have the time to lie in the sun and "work" on a deep dark tan. Besides convenience, sunless tanning is also safer and healthier for your skin with no risk of cancer or wrinkles that can come from exposure to the sun and UV rays. Spray tanning delivers a believable, natural-looking tan without the sun! Sunless tans are great when preparing for a big event or just a safe alternative to keeping your tan year round.
How long does a Sunless Tan last?
Depending on a person's activities and skin type, the tan lasts approximately 5-7 days (up to 10 for some people). With follow up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinitely. Using our tan extender or shimmer extender lotion on the skin daily will help extend tanning results while keeping the tan looking healthy and glowing. A sunless tan is not a long term commitment, so it is great to try for the first time!
What is the difference between being airbrushed and using cream or lotion sunless tanners at home?
Imagine the difference between finger painting your car and using an airbrush to paint it. Even with the greatest of care, and help from a friend to get all the places you cannot reach, you can't duplicate the even consistency and natural look of an airbrushed tan.
What is the advantage of airbrush tanning over UV tanning?
Airbrush tanning is an alternative form of tanning. People with sensitive skin or people who have a hard time tanning, be it natural or in tanning beds will find this form of tanning very comforting. With airbrush tanning you get immediate results which eliminates having to spend days sitting in the sun or tanning bed. Sunless tanning also spares the skin of excessive wear and tear and free from potential burns caused by the sun or tanning beds.
What should I wear?
For women we recommend bringing/wearing a dark bathing suit or underwear. We do also provide disposable underwear if you prefer. The key is your comfort level so it’s up to you whether you wish to go topless or not. Attire for men is boxers, swim trunks or shorts. Your tanning specialist will use the utmost discretion. Loose fitting dark clothing should be worn for leaving the facility. We have found that DHA reacts with wool, nylon, and silk. These fabrics should not be worn during or immediately following your tanning session.
What if a person normally can't get very tan?
A person CAN get a sunless tan even if they can't get a real tan. DHA, the active ingredient in our sunless tan, saturates the dead skin cells in the outermost layer of skin, where it turns the protein in the dead cells golden tan.
Why isn't there any SPF in a spray tan?
Applied correctly, the protection in any sun block will at most last 4-8 hours. Since sunless tans last for 5-7 days (up to 10 for some people), adding SPF would not provide protection for the life of your tan and could be misleading. Our tanning solutions and body care products do not contain a sunscreen and do not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin while UV tanning may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.
Will a spray tan cover up or harm my tattoos?
No. Tanning solutions will not harm tattoos, but if you have yellow or light tones, it can temporarily darken the color a bit, until your Tan fades. If you don’t want that to happen, just cover the tattoo lightly with moisturizer lotion BEFORE your tan.
How long after the application can I go in water or sweat?
We recommend about 8 hours. Sunless tan longevity varies from person to person and according to your lifestyle. Long exposure to water will fade your tan. Your outer cells will start to soak up water, which dilutes the effect of the tan. The longer you are in the water, the lighter your tan will get. Having a weekly maintenance tan allows the tan to saturate the skin better. The tan will then hold up longer in water. Be sure to moisturize every day, this helps maintain the tan.
How can I minimize exfoliation from hot tubs, swimming pools and the ocean after I get a sunless tan?
After your tan has developed and after your first post-tan shower, you can minimize water activity exfoliation by liberally and frequently apply a good, strong waterproof sunscreen before submersing yourself.
Will the spray tan stain my pajamas or sheets?
The color guide will wash off your skin after your first post-tan shower. You will notice color coming off in the shower, don’t worry this is not your tan coming off just the color guide. But until you shower the color guide may rub off a bit on clothing or sheets, however it will easily come out in the wash.
Am I expected to tip my tanning technician?
Tips are never expected, but like with any service, if you are happy with your experience, a tip is always appreciated!
